Trends for AW 2020-2021

Okay, it might seem a little late to share trends for a season that has already started (just check out some magazines that started doing that as early as March!). But I actually think it’s relevant to give you the news when people are actually starting to buy stuff for the cold days. I mean, I don’t know about you, but I rarely go shopping for winter coats in 40°C August (unless Uniqlo has crazy sales going on).

So now that temperatures have lowered and the rain is creeping on us, here’s a little selection of the biggest trends that will be leading this season:

Shoulder pads

Grab your mom’s 80s blazer, because the shoulder pad craze is back! This feature is all about structure and sharpness and if you’re able to pull this off, prepare to get some attention!

Long coats

No need to explain this one – long coats are always in. What’s more classic than that? Effortless statement pieces that keep you warm. Plus, they come in all colors and shapes.

Ultramarine green

This trend might seem a bit unusual and hard to wear, but a green like this is incredibly classy and unique. A great way to switch things up a bit and make any boring outfit look royal.

Matrix coats

Mostly introduced by Balenciaga a little while ago, dark, long coats have been making an impression, to my biggest delight. Gothy vibes are definitely in this winter, which actually makes things easier to pair: an all-black look is always a go-to.

Dominatrix much

This one seems scary at first, but some designers have made a great job at introducing leather corsets and harnesses into regular outfits. The strappy accessory looks flattering on a regular shirt or a figure-hugging dress. More power to women!

Accessory-wise

Oversized bags are back, after micro purses being everywhere for several seasons. Tiny Jacquemus babies that can only fit AirPods are still in, but right now it’s all about puffy, gigantic totes that could carry all your stuff for a weekend and more.
